For any of you who are familiar with our books titled “Peep!” and “Bwowk!” which were published as a two-volume series under the GraciePress imprint, you may recognize some similarities with our new “The Hardy Hens” series which will also be published under the GraciePress imprint.
Both of the Series allow hens to solve their own problems without intervention of any “rescuers” like roosters. They do have guardians who watch over them like the Raven With The Blue Eyes and her Squadron of Crows, but even they never intercede in emergencies. (Between you and me, this is the opposite of so many Disney-styled story heroines.) Nor do the hens have super human powers like so many Marvel-styled story heroes and heroines.) When I write about my hens, they will always depend on their own thoughts, their own strengths, and their own gifts given by God that they have developed.
We don’t use “magic” with wizards and witches like so many Tolkien-styled and Lewis-styled fantasies. If there is anything “magical” it would be how they maintain their connection to God our Father, The Great Gardener, Their Creator and Provider.

We strive to stick with Pearl’s “Three-Toed Story Method” which has a Problem, a Dramatic Turning Point, and a Solution. Each of these three has three more parts placed inside of it for a total of Nine Parts or Nine Chapters. We also like a tenth chapter which serves as an Epilogue. This is something that we have been developing since our most popular book, How to Explain Christmas to Chickens was published. (Available through Barnes & Noble)

So good to hear from you and the girls again, John!
