Pearl’s Three Kinds of Prayer

This morning, I worked on the section divisions for Pearl’s Book of Prayer. They are Praise, Petition, and Presence.

Yes, they all begin with “P” just like Pearl’s name, but what you may find interesting is that each of these section divisions shows Pearl as a chicken and Pearl as a person. This is because even though I may be able to look at Pearl and know what she is feeling, many of our readers may not.

So to help readers know the feeling for each section, the human Pearl should be very helpful.

Praise

With “Praise,” Pearl sits in quiet majesty beside a praying figure, both bathed in radiant warmth as their hearts move upward.

Petition

Petition might lean into vulnerability and yearning,

With “Petition,” Pearl leans into vulnerability and yearning. The kneeling figure whose clasped hands and furrowed brow speak of deep longing, not for the gift, but for The Giver of the gift.

Presence

With “Presence,” Pearl settles into stillness, intimacy, and sacred companionship. She rests gently in the arms of a serene figure, and their closeness radiating quiet intimacy and companionship with golden warmth enveloping them like a hush of grace.

This is what Pearl has desired all along, more than food and drink and more than anything else in our Backyard Garden or even in the entire physical world.
