Always Gracie

This illustration shows what it felt like when we moved away from Substack and back here to WordPress. We had only gone to Substack because Revue was bought by Twitter and then shut down as a cost-saving measure. We had only gone to Revue because the WordPress block editor was so difficult to become comfortable with but now it feels very smooth and natural.

Through all of our transitions and transformations, there has always been Gracie. Thinking about her is like leaving a world of shadows and being warmed by a heart of precious love. Gracie had been quite motherly towards Blanche and Pearl when they moved outside to join the older, more mature hens. Pearl could be quite frustrating, but that only brought out Gracie’s motherly instincts even more.

The cold February that took Gracie from us left all of us with wounded hearts and a desire to keep her alive in our memories. We have done that with God’s help, and Gracie will always be with us. She is with Jesus and, He is only one prayer away.

Now that WordPress is our only way to reach out to the world, we are going to return to a three posts per week schedule like we had in the beginning of “My Life With Gracie.” Back then, we always poster on Sunday or Monday, then on Wednesday or Thursday, and finally on Saturday. We will try to follow that again, though we do wonder about when I will ever have time to prepare a unified, three-posts series!

This week, we are starting a bit late on Tuesday rather than Monday.
